Testing Procedure
All work carried out conforms to the IEE Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment.

wp52509316.jpg Test Procedure
Portable Appliance Testing consists of a series of inspections and electrical tests on each item. These tests vary depending on the class of the item.
wp52509316.jpg A visual inspection is undertaken first to check for faults /damage to the:
• Plug Casing          (Plugs are replaced free of charge if damaged)
• Damage to the flex of the appliance. (Cracked or cut)
• The wiring of the plug is checked to ensure correct and secure termination
• The fuse rating of the plug is checked.       (Fuses are replaced free of charge, if  required)
Minor repairs are also free of charge

Once these Visual tests have been carried out. A number of Electrical tests are performed depending on the class of the equipment.
• Insulation test.
• Earth bond test.
• Earth continuity test.
• Touch leakage test.
• Leakage test.
• Polarity test
Please Note: All the above tests constitute 1 full test, you are not charged for each of the above tests.

Appliance testing results are then noted and the electrical item marked accordingly with a pass or fail label.
These results are then compiled into a report and Emailed to you in PDF, electronic storage saves on paper but you may print them if required.
You will then be fully compliant with all relevant regulations.

•  I realise that in some cases Portable Appliance Testing may be an unwanted disruption to your business. Because of this I can operate outside of normal working hours to suit the customer. Evening and weekend appointments carry no extra charges.
•  Prices when quoted include all the above (there are no hidden charges), Many companies offer quotations depending on only the number of items, I don't believe that this is a reliable way to do things, this shows that the service provided is a ONE PRICE ONE SERVICE attitude.
•  Clients premises are all different so the time taken to test appliances can differ dramatically, I always discuss clients requirements and visit the premises (if possible) to carry out a site survey and risk assessment, this will enable me to price the testing program accordingly.
•  However, just to assist you in a decision to choose me as your test engineer, in general up to 150 items carries a price of £1.50 per appliance/item (min invoice of £60) for up to 40 items/appliances or less, over that quantity (250) the cost is negotiable depending on number of appliances.
